- Keep your pet up to date on all vaccinations. See your vet regularly and seek qualified professional advice when you have any questions regarding health issues.
- Make sure your dog has current ID, rabies tag and license.
- Check collars, halters, leads, toys and other equipment for proper fit and condition. Dogs can slip out of collars that are too loose. Proper fit is safer and more comfortable for your pet. Replace worn items.
- Provide your pet with a proper amount of healthy food and plenty of fresh water.
- Keep your pet in safe areas with good ventilation when they are unattended.
- Have a backup plan for your pet in case of emergencies.
- Socialize puppies in safe environments as soon as possible. Let them meet people of various ages, races and genders. The more positive experiences they have out in the world, the better. A good puppy kindergarden or training class can help get your puppy off to a great start!
